Zinnia
Worsted weight yarn, size 7 needles
Small amount of coordinating or
contrasting color yarn for center
Crochet hook about the size of your
needles for picking up stitches.
Cast on 20 stitches with the yarn you have chosen for the petals leaving a 10” tail and
purl one row.
Row 1) (k2tog, yo) 9 times, k2tog
Row 2) p18, turn (leave the last stitch on the needle)
Row 3) (k2tog, yo) 8 times, k2tog
Row 4) p16, turn, 2 stitches left on needle
Row 5) (k2tog, yo) 7 times, k2tog
Row 6) p14, turn, 3 stitches left on needle
Row 7) (k2tog, yo) 6 times, k2tog
Row 8) p12, turn, 4 stitches left on needle
Row 9) (k2tog, yo) 5 times, k2tog
Row 10) p10, turn, 5 stitches left on needle
Row 11) (k2tog, yo) 4 times, k2tog
Row 12) p8, turn, 6 stitches left on needle
Row 13) (k2tog, yo) 3 times, k2tog
Row 14) p6, turn, 7 stitches left on needle
Row 15) (k2tog, yo) 2 times, k2tog
Row 16) p4, turn, 8 stitches left on needle
Row 17) k2tog, yo, k2tog
Row 18) p2, turn, 9 stitches left on needle
Row 19) k2tog
Row 20) p10
Row 21) K10, cast on 10 for a total of 20 stitches
Row 22) p20
Repeat rows 1-22 six more times then repeat rows 1-19
once.
Bind off purlwise and cut the yarn leaving a tail to weave in.
Center
Using the crochet hook pick up 24 stitches with your second yarn color and place on
knitting needle. (3 per section)
Row 1) k2tog across row. 12 stitches on needle.
Row 2) p across row
Row 3) k2tog across row. 6 stitches on needle.
Row 4) p across row
Cut yarn leaving a 10” tail, thread tail into tapestry needle and pass tail through
remaining stitches on knitting needle. Pull tight and use tail to sew seam.
